The Oklahoma Officer Down Foundation Inc. was established in 2008 following a tragic incident in the summer of 2007. During this event multiple law enforcement officers were injured in a shootout with a methamphetamine trafficker when officers attempted to execute a search warrant on the suspect’s residence. The officers took several gunshots before the suspect was fatally wounded. One officer received life changing injuries.
Following the shooting it was quickly discovered that there was little to no assistance to law enforcement officers that are severely injured performing the jobs that they have sworn to do in order to protect our communities.
Officers involved in this incident felt this was a major issue in Oklahoma law enforcement and started The Oklahoma Officer Down Foundation to raise funds for officers severely injured or killed in the line of duty.
The Oklahoma Officer Down Foundation is a nonprofit organization licensed with the State of Oklahoma. The foundation focuses on assisting officers who are severely injured or killed in the line of duty with financial assistance to relieve some of the financial burdens and hardships that both the officer and their families face. The foundation is made up of volunteer law enforcement personnel. The foundation hopes that they will never be needed but the dangers to law enforcement officers unfortunately make those hopes impossible.
The foundation is 501C (3) charitable organization and your donation may be tax deductible to the extent allowed by law
